Training Summary: 12/18-24/2017
Merry Christmas Eve from Boston!
Lavinia and I flew out on Wednesday to be with my family and Henri joined us last night (he couldn’t take any time off from work this past week). We’ve been enjoying lots of relaxing family time and have gotten to see some long-time friends as well.
We had a little scare on Friday when Livy developed a croupy cough and was breathing pretty hard so we spent the evening in urgent care/the ER to get her diagnosed and get the steroids she needed. Luckily, we caught it early and the steroids seemed to have done their trick so while she still definitely has a cold her cough and breathing were much, much better yesterday. Hopefully, she just continues to get better and better as the days go on.
Today, we have a busy day ahead of us – wrapping presents, baking, Christmas Eve service & family dinner! I just love everything about this holiday and I’m so glad that we are with my family for the first time in 3 years.
This week was my first week back running after CIM – 5 runs, 32 miles and two rest days – much less than in the height of marathon training. To be honest the first two runs were hard but by the end of the week I was already feeling a bit like my old self. That’s the fastest I think I’ve ever “bounced back” after a planned rest break. It was a relatively boring week of running but it feels great to be running and moving again – I’m really looking forward to chasing some big goals in 2018!
