Thinking Out Loud: OCD/Quirky Habits
The other day I was listening to one of my and Henri’s favorite podcasts and they had a segment where people called in about their OCD/quirky habits. It had me laughing out loud – more so because I could relate to what a LOT of the callers were saying. Henri has always teased me for the quirks that I have and his uncle has even told me that I remind him of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory because I have certain ways of doing things just like Sheldon.
On my run this morning I came up with a loonnnnnng list (embarrassingly long) of my goofy/quirky habits and thought that it would make for a fun Thinking Out Loud Thursday to share some of them with you – Thanks AMANDA!!!
I know we all have a least one funny habit so please please please join in in the comments so that I don’t feel like such a crazy person! 😉 lol
- I have to end my runs at X.00 mileage. In college my friend and I were known for running in circles around the fields until we hit X.00. I mean if someone asks you how far you ran who wants to have to answer with 7.86 miles??
- I hate crushed ice and like exactly 4 ice cubes in my glass. If it’s a shorter cup – 3 cubes. I have it down to a science so that my drinks aren’t too cold or not cold enough.
- I don’t like eating pieces of chips, pretzels, crackers, etc. When I’m chips I pick out all of the big, full chips first and will eat all of them first before moving on to eat the broken pieces/crumbs.
- I always eat M&M’s in groups of 3 and they have to be all different colors. The same goes for gummy bears but the 3 colors have to be clear, green & red. Yellow and orange gummy bears just aren’t worth it.
- I put on 7 swipes of deodorant on each armpit… and exactly 4 squirts of perfume.
- My book shelves are just as organized as a library. I sort the books on my shelf by category and then alphabetically by author. (yes, Henri thinks I’m loco)
- Sock, sock, shoe, shoe – anything else just feels wrong!!!
- I do not like writing in pencil… the feeling, the noise it makes – bleh! So I’m always writing in pen, even when I’m working on a crossword puzzle or doing math (<– I can’t tell you how many teachers this annoyed but I really just can’t do pencils! ha)
- All of my clothes have to be hung up facing the same direction (to the left). Henri is no longer allowed to hang up my clothes because I end up just having to go through and fix it all because he just doesn’t see the need for all the shirts to face the same way!
- I LOVE numbers and math so much that I find an unnatural amount of joy in discovering patterns and math problems in everyday life (license plates, race bib numbers, etc.). I can’t even explain how happy it made me that I ran 03:06:09 on 10/12/14 at Chicago…. that’s a math nerd’s dream right there!
What is one of your quirky/OCD-like habits?
