The Month in Review – November 2014

Hey there! Can you believe that it is December already?? My mom and sisters got a big jump  on their holiday shopping this weekend but instead of doing the same I decided to take a 3 hour nap on Sunday. Thank goodness for Cyber Monday or else I’d be wayyyy behind in the Christmas present department!!

Before this blog becomes a place of Christmas party summaries (we have TWO this weekend) and cookie recipes galore let’s take a quick look back at the month of November! 🙂

November Miles:

251.23

November Races:

0 for me – After running 4 races in October (5K, 10K, half and full marathon!) it was time for a little racing break on my part. I do have my first “real” half marathon this weekend though and I can’t wait!

1 for Henri – This past weekend Henri ran the Back the Track 5K in Marblehead. He did awesome and blew his goal time of 20 mins out of the water with a post-collegiate PR of 18:59! He’s definitely caught the racing bug again but wants to wait until it warms up a bit before running another!

Favorite Run:

The easy 7 miler that Henri and I ran together around his home town when we were back for Thanksgiving. It was warm, sunny, and we ran one of my favorite routes in that area… even if it was a bit hilly!

November Travels:

California for Thanksgiving. It had been 6 months since we had seen Henri’s family, which is wayyyyyy too long! It was so great to spend 5 days with them, just relaxing and helping out with all the Thanksgiving festivities. Here are some pics from our week that haven’t made it on the blog yet!

Monet and I spent 5 hours putting this puzzle together!

My mother-in-law’s famous breakfast – bacon, fried potatoes, and over easy eggs. No one makes eggs as good as her!

I got LOTS of puppy snuggles while we were there, I think Miley forgot how much she usually doesn’t like me.

Latest Obsession:

Snow, snow everywhere! Even though snow means cold, slippery runs I LOVE it between Thanksgiving and Christmas. After not having snow for 6 years it’s so nice to listen to Christmas carols like “Let it Snow” and “White Christmas” when there is actually snow outside!

Tastiest Thing I Ate:

It’s a toss up between this vanilla hot chocolate from Taza Chocolate….

and my mom’s homemade Baked Potato Soup.

Both are really tasty and warm – perfect for the chilly weather we’ve been having!

Favorite Recipe:

Martha Stewart’s Chocolate Mousse Pie that I made for Thanksgiving. It is so light and airy while also tasting really rich. It was a total hit (and relatively easy to make)!

Favorite Book:

I FINALLY finished The Book Thief (I’m a slowww reader you guys!) and it was absolutely amazing!!!! Can’t wait to watch the movie!

Favorite Post to Write:

I really liked putting together my first ever Day in the Life post. I never realized how much I actually do in a day and it will be fun to look back at these posts as the years go by and my day-to-day life changes. 🙂

Most Read Post:

My interview with Altra’s founder, Golden Harper. This post was super popular and I’m so excited that it sparked interest in my FAVORITE running shoes!

Favorite Running Related Article I  Read:

This article that Lauren Fleshman wrote for Runner’s World. It can be so easy to become content with where we are as runners but there is also a drive to want MORE from ourselves and our sport. It is important to find a balance between these two and I LOVED reading about Lauren’s perspective on this!

Looking Forward To [In December]:

CHRISTMAS!  I don’t think this needs any further explanation – Christmas cookies, gift giving, movies, parties and family time! What more could a girl ask for?

Who ran a PR in November? Tell me about it!

Do you love snow or are you not a fan?

What’s the best book that you read recently? I need a new one now that I finished The Book Thief
