Palm Springs Anniversary Trip Day #1
This past weekend Henri and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary with a quick trip to Palm Springs. I’d never been before and a few days of relaxing, pool lounging and great food together sounded like it was right up our alley.
We drove out late Friday night after Henri got home from work and when we got to our hotel around 11:30 it was still 95* out! We stayed at the Westin Villas in Rancho Mirage which ended up being really nice because we had our own kitchenette and we cooked a few of our meals.
Saturday for breakfast I brought fresh fruit from Trader Joe’s and pastries from my new favorite coffee shop, Dripp. Henri went with the chocolate croissant but I opted for the crois-scone – aka half of a croissant and half of a maple pecan scone. A relaxing breakfast on the patio was the perfect way to start the day.
I think chocolate croissants might be one of Henri’s love languages.
After breakfast, we had a couples massage in Palm Springs, then came back to the hotel, ate lunch and headed out to explore the resort a bit and then set up camp at the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
We alternated between laying out, tanning and reading and cooling off in the pool. The water was always really cold but surprisingly it never felt uncomfortable because of how hot it was outside.
Once we had worked up an appetite from all the swimming we got ready for dinner at Matchbox. We ordered a few things to share and everything we tried was absolutely amazing BUT the star of the meal was far and away the onion rings on top of their mini burgers! I couldn’t stop eating them and Henri literally had to swipe my hand away so that I didn’t eat more than my half! haha
We also got the arancini (fried risotto balls)….
… and Pesto Chicken Pizza, which was loaded with chicken. Yum!!
We walked around downtown Palm Springs until we were literally melting and decided that milkshakes were needed to cool-off! There was a Ruby’s and a Coldstone right next to each other and I just happened to have a giftcard to each. Henri got the Peanut Butter Cup Milkshake from Ruby’s.
And I went with my favorite at Coldstone – banana ice cream w/ Oreos! (please disregard the effect of the flashing police lights – lol)
We took our milkshakes back to the hotel and enjoyed them in the air conditioning while watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! My man + ice cream + an awesome flashback chick-flick = the best way to spend a Saturday night if you ask me!
Day 2 of the trip tomorrow –> BRUNCH!
What is your go-to milkshake flavor?
Is it extra hot where you are right now?? I think it’s like 10-15* above average right now in most places in SoCal…
Favorite chick flick from the 2000s?? How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is definitely up there for me but in high school I think the one my friends and I watched most was Hot Chick – now THAT was a strange movie! haha
