My Writing Process: A Blog Tour

Wow! I am having some major DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) from waterskiing this weekend and starting to do my Dynamic Warm-ups again. The first mile of my run this morning was roooough and whenever I went down the slightest hill my quads were screaming at me!! I got it done though, longest run in two weeks!photo (8)

p.s. all that yoga I was doing during my running break really helped my flexibility. Usually I struggle to touch my toes but this week during my pre-run stretching I’ve been able to touch the ground EASILY! Yay progress!

Something you probably don’t know about me is that I can be the biggest procrastinator ever! Part of the problem is that I like to have a clear picture of what I’m going to do in my head before I do it, which leads to a lot of thinking/planning and not enough doing. Speaking of procrastination, Sarah over at Lake Shore Runner invited me to be a part of a blog tour about writing process TWO WEEKS AGO! I was supposed to write this post last week but like usual I’ve been thinking about it a lot but haven’t actually sat down to put pen to paper fingers to keyboard until now. Sorry that this took so long Sarah, but thank you so much for inviting me!!

So without further ado – My Writing Process….

What am I working on?

Next Monday will be the 9 month anniversary of when I started Will Run for Boston, I can hardly believe it! In that that time I have learned a LOT about blogging but there are still many things that I am working on to become a better blogger. The two main things that I am working on are (1) not writing my posts in front of the TV and (2) writing out more original workouts and recipes like I was doing at the beginning of this whole blogging thing! Treadmill Incline Workout

How does my work differ from others of its type/genre?

I am not a writer by any means, in fact English was probably my least favorite subject in school, so the writing part of blogging does not come easily to me! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read other bloggers’ posts and been discouraged because I’m not nearly as well spoken, clever, or witty. But what I’ve realized is that if every blogger were the same where would be the fun in that? I write about running in what I hope is a very approachable and understandable way, but there is also a lot of experience and knowledge behind what I am saying! I think that’s what helps me to stand apart! 🙂429845_3162002940416_1354025593_n (1)

Why do I write what I do?

I am passionate about running, staying fit, my family, eating healthy (and not so healthy at times), and just talking about my life in general. I like to write about all of these things on this blog because sometimes I can overload the people in my life (I talk Henri’s ear off multiple times a week) and so this is a great outlet for everything that floats around in my head all the time! I also LOVE the running community and writing this blog helps me connect to an even wider running community than the one that is directly around me. I love that and I love sharing my thoughts with other runners! Sometimes I’m amazed that people like to read what I have to say because basically I am just sharing my life which is not, in my eyes, all that exciting.

How does your writing process work?

Writing process? Ha! I WISH I could say that I have a tried and true process when it comes to writing these posts, but most of the time I just sit down at my computer and write about whatever comes to mind/what I have been up to recently. I do keep a “Blogging Calendar” with ideas for workout/recipe posts but beyond that I just go with the flow…..

Just last week I nominated a bunch of my blogger friends for the Inspiring Blogger award so instead of adding another post to people’s plates I’m nominating all of YOU! If you have a blog answer one of the questions in the comments! 🙂

Have a great Wednesday!
