Looking Back at 2014 Goals

Before I look ahead and set goals for 2015 I wanted to take a moment to look back at the goals that I set last January for 2014 and see how well I did at accomplishing what I started the year hoping to do!

Here’s a quick look back at 2014’s goals – both the successes and the not-so much-successes. ha

Running

  • Run 3,000 miles or more throughout the year – As of today my current mileage for the year is 2,717.14 and after my runs tomorrow and Wednesday I should hit a total of 2,738.64. Even though I fell short of this goal {by 261.36} I am really proud that I hit as much mileage as I did considering the rough patch I went through this summer. I’ve never totaled my mileage for an entire year before so it was really fun to see where I was and I look forward to beating this mileage in 2015!
  • PR in the marathon (maybe even go sub-3 hours!) – As unexpected as it was I did PR in marathon this year by 4 minutes and 10 seconds! 3:06:09 is closer to my ultimate goal of sub-3 hours and I’m glad that I took that step this year!
  • Complete my first 10K and half-marathon races – I completed both of these things goals in 2014! I ran 4 10K’s and 2 half marathons. I also ran a 10 miler which was a new distance for me! πŸ˜€

Health/Fitness

  • Don’t step on a scale for the entire year – I don’t remember the last time I stepped on a scale or what number it read when I did, so I’ll count this one as a success!
  • Eat more vegetables – hmmmm, I was definitely doing really good at this goal until we moved back to New England and in with my family. Tasty fruits and veggies are harder to find here year round and my family has a big snack habit so there are always tasty/salty things sitting around that I end up snacking on. Tightening up my nutrition is definitely a goal for 2015 – lots more yummy salads like this one I ate for lunch yesterday are in my future!

  • Be able to do 30 push-ups and 5 pull-ups at one time by the end of the year – HA! Putting this on the list again for 2015 because this definitely didn’t happen. I could probably muscle out the 30 push-ups but I know I’d be hard pressed to end squeeze out 1/2 a pull-up!

Blog

  • Continue to post at least 6 days per week – I’ve been slacking on this for sure – on average I only posted 19 times/month this year. I really need to get back into a regular blogging schedule, and want to start posting more recipes and workouts again!
  • Build up my readership, followers, and relationships with other bloggers – I am so thankful for the relationships that I have built over the past year. When I set this goal for myself last December I don’t think I understood exactly what this would look like but over the months I have definitely gained lots of great blends {blog friends} that I know will be in my life for a long time to come (even if the blogging ends eventually).

Lots of new bloggy friends at the RW Half!
  • Become a FitFluential Ambassador β€“ YAY!!! I became a FitFluential Ambassador in September!! πŸ˜€

Financially

  • Track expenses and build a realistic budget that follows the 50-30-20 rule – This goal has been set on the back-burner this year but will be resurrected again soon when we have our own place again.
  • Make a dent in our debt – Living with my family for the past 9 months has really helped us achieve this goal! We were able to pay off quite a big chuck of our car debt as well as save up quite a bit as well!
  • Tithe 10% to our church – Still working towards doing this one as well.

Personal/Hobbies

  • Read more books for fun (shoot for one a month!) β€“ While I DID read more books for fun than I did in 2013 I most definitely did NOT read 12! I may have listened to that many audio books {on my runs} but I would still like to read more books {with my eyes}. Seriously nothing beats an early Sunday morning curled up with a good book – coffee in hand, and snuggling with my pups!
  • photo 3 (30) Practice my French and be better at reading and speaking it by the end of the year – My book reading total might be a bit higher if I counted all of the children’s books I’ve been reading in French on my iPad. I found this awesome app where you buy books like “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Jack in the Beanstock” in French for $1 and I have been reading
  • Play golf with Henri more often than this past year – This year we went and played a round of golf with my sister and her boyfriend which is much more than the year before so I’m deeming this goal a success! Now I just have to get good enough that I don’t come in last place next time we play! haha
