Leg Burner Stroller Workout
During this pregnancy I’ve found myself doing more runs and workouts with our jogging stroller than ever before. In the first trimester I tended to choose sleeping in over getting my run in first thing in the morning which meant that Liv was up and wanted to run/workout with mommy. I also attended a few Fit4Moms classes with a friend this summer and both Lavinia and I really enjoyed doing the strength exercises together with the stroller. The classes are fun and I’m glad that I tried them out but the timing is hard for my school year schedule because the classes tend to be around 8-9am. They were really a good option for this season but in serious training I think it would be hard to incorporate into my weekly training/schedule.
My summer Fit4Moms membership expired last week so I made up the following leg workout to feel that same burn that I got from Stroller Strides and all the squats we tended to do during those workouts! I did 3 rounds through these exercises and my legs were shaking on the walk to the playground (Liv’s reward for letting mama get in a little workout).
Tips:
- Find a relatively flat surface to do the workout on.
- Lock the front wheel as all of the movements are back and forth.
- Talk your kiddo through the exercises you are doing and get them to help you count each repetition.
- Warm-up with a run or walk before doing these strength exercises
- If it’s hot outside consider buying a stroller fan like this one to keep your little one cool
- Play music outloud on a portable speaker to entertain both you and your workout partner 🙂
Happy working out mamas!
