Lavinia’s First Christmas
We’re a little over a week past Lavinia’s first Christmas so I figured now was as good a time as ever to share a little recap. 😉
Christmas Eve is the main event with Henri’s family so we headed to Christmas service at church a day earlier than normal on Christmas Eve Eve. It was a short, sweet service with wonderful music and great Christmas message.
Early Saturday afternoon we headed over to my in-laws to celebrate and made sure to bring the Christmas cheer in our Santa hats!
Our Santa’s little helper was very excited about the big day!
We enjoyed appetizers, ate an early dinner and actually took our time opening Christmas presents! There are now 5 little kiddos at our family gatherings which is so, so fun. Henri’s cousin got them all matching outfits and we made sure to get a group pic while they were all looking so cute.
The smallest size the dress came in was 12 months so Liv was swimming in it a bit but still looked absolutely adorable!
We had an relatively early night because the festivities were set to continue Sunday morning. Livy was snoozing pretty good in the morning and I actually had to wake her up around 8ish so we could get the day started!
We opened our presents to each other at our apartment and Liv was quite intrigued by the wrapping paper her presents came in.
When all our gifts were opened we loaded up the car with the remaining gifts for the family, breakfast supplies and Henri’s new drone and made the short drive over to his parents house. I popped breakfast in the oven and we got down to the present opening business while we waited for it to bake. About 30 minutes in we took a breakfast break. On Christmas morning I love to make a something sweet and something savory to please everyone. This year I settled on cinnamon rolls (I used this recipe for the dough, filled it with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and chopped walnuts and topped them with the cream cheese frosting in this recipe) and a bacon, egg and cheese crescent wreath… and of course we had to serve some fruit on the side!
After presents and breakfast we lounged around and watched The Grinch.
The rest of the day included a short walk, playing around with Henri’s drone, a tasty dinner of lasagna, salad and rolls and just lots of time relaxing. Overall Lavinia’s first Christmas was very special and I’m already looking forward to her second Christmas when she’ll understand the excitement and magic of the season even more!
How were your holidays? Who did you celebrate with? Best gift you gave or received this year?
