It Feels Like Fall
HEYO! Happy Monday!
First off I have to say CONGRATULATIONS to two of my athletes that had ah-mazing races this weekend!
On Saturday Kyndal (<- go check out her blog) ran the Last Chance BQ Marathon in Grand Rapids and not only ran a HUGE 39 minute PR but also qualified for the Boston Marathon with a 3:30:32! Next up for Kyndal is the Chicago Marathon in October!
Sunday, Courtney (who recapped her Marine Corps Half Marathon for the blog here) ran the Michelob Ultra Boston Half Marathon and PR’d by a little over 3 minutes and came in 3rd place with a time of 1:27:30! Court is also running Chicago this year and I just know that she is going to ROCK her first marathon!
I’m hoping to have race reports from them up on my coaching website later this week so keep your eyes peeled! 🙂
It suddenly feels like fall here in New England. One thing I know I’m sweating through a hot and humid run on Thursday and the next it’s long sleeve running weather on Saturday. I’m sure most people aren’t quite ready for fall but I have been looking forward to this ever since we moved back! It’s been 6 years since I’ve experienced a real fall and there’s something that I just love about the changing leaves, apple picking, flannel shirts, and reading a good book cuddled up near the fireplace.
Finn & Laci don’t quite know what to think of the chilly temperatures and getting them to go outside in the mornings was difficult… I don’t know what we are going to do when there is snow on the ground!A few other things that really made it feel like fall this weekend…
Pumpkins at the grocery store. I can’t wait to carve jack-o-lanterns for Halloween!Seasonal scents at Bath & Body Works!Finding the gingersnap flavor of Honey Stinger waffles- so good!! Pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes for the second week in a row. We are on a roll!Leaves that are slowly but surely changing colors… I can’t wait for the vibrant reds and oranges to make an appearance!
Saturday was cold and rainy so Henri and I headed to the mall for date night, we returned a few things and browsed the stores before eating an early dinner at PF Changs. We shared the chicken lettuce wraps, edamame and beef lo mein. It hit the spot! After dinner we saw The Giver which we both really liked. I would definitely recommend it. On the way home we made use of some Coldstone gift cards that we’ve had for awhile and grabbed some dessert! Chocolate and cake batter with Oreos and M&M’s for me… chocolate with Reese’s for Henri!Yesterday was a complete rest day and included grocery shopping, laundry, lots of food prep for the week and reading. I’m currently reading the Book Thief and it is so hard to put down! Last night I literally read until my eyes couldn’t stay open any more… SO GOOD!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Does it feel like fall where you live? Are you excited about the new season or dreading the cooler temps?
Who raced this weekend? How did you do???
What is your go-to order at Coldstone? If they have it my first go-to is the banana but if they’re out I always go with chocolate/cake batter mixed!
