Holy Humidity & Some Eats for What I Ate Wednesday
Holyyy humidity!!Summer finally decided to hit New England the past few days and even though it hasn’t been much hotter than normal the humidity is OUT. OF. CONTROL. After every run my hair looks like a bird’s nest and takes at least 20 minutes (and a pound of conditioner) to brush out – any suggestions??
Last night at practice it poured rain during our warm-up but stopped just in time for our workout – 3x 3 mins/2mins/1 min around the BC reservoir. I’m finding that these workouts are so so hard for me because we get very little rest which I am not used to at all – 90 seconds after the 3 min. intervals and 60 seconds after the 2 & 1 minute intervals (jogging the whole time) made the workout EXTRA hard. The sunset was beautiful last night though which helped take my mind off of those hardest middle repeats.
When I got home from practice Henri and I watched Caroline Wozniacki’s quarterfinal match in the US Open and girlfriend crushed it… 6-0, 6-1! She played a great match but I think Laci was unimpressed seeing as she slept through the whole thing…I’m pulling for either Caroline or Victoria Azarenka to win the whole thing but am leaning towards Caroline because right now she is also training to run the NYC Marathon in November. How cool is that??
On a completely different note… today is Wednesday and since I haven’t been around lately I thought I’d jump in on the What I Ate Wednesday train this week to unload a few of the many food photos that have been piling up on my phone during my little blogging hiatus.
So… a few of my recent eats…
Cappuccino from Bittersweet Co. – One of my high school classmates recently opened a cafe in our hometown so I’ve been making sure to stop by once a week for a cappuccino and pastry. Everything is so tasty and the ambiance of the store is amazing <- she went to art school so a lot of the decorations in the shop are handmade by her!Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream – On Labor Day Henri and I took a trip to my new favorite ice cream shop for what might be the last cone of the summer (all the ice cream places around here close down in the fall/winter months). Of course I had to go with the best flavor on the menu!
Chicken Tacos & Mexican Rice – On Monday night Henri and I decided to make his mom’s taco recipe. I’ve never attempted to make these before because it involves frying (which I don’t do often) but we were both missing Cali and we had extra time with the day off from work that we gave it a go. They definitely took some time to put together and I have a small battle wound on my arm from the oil but they were well worth it! I wrote the recipe down too so keep an eye out for the recipe comin’ at ya sometime soon!
Caprese Salad – Tomatoes are SOOOOO good right now and they are even better topped with mozzarella, fresh basil and balsamic vinegar! YUM!That’s all for today folks! š
Have a great Wednesday!
Has it been humid where you live? How do you deal with running in the heat/humidity?
What have you been eating recently?
