Date Night at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse

While you’re reading this I will either be on the plane heading to Chicago, shaking everything out with a bunch of new running buds at the ProCompression Shake-Out Run, exploring the marathon expo, or carbo-loading and wondering what the hey I have gotten myself into. It’s going to be a fun day!

Since you def. don’t want to hear about my boring Friday at work or the too many hours I spent finishing packing last night let’s talk about some tasty food. Sound good??

Last June Henri and I had our rehearsal dinner at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Boston.

Wedding rehearsal smooches!!

Ever since our 1 year anniversary this summer we’ve been wanting to go back to Davio’s to celebrate but just haven’t found the time/were in the mood for something a little cheaper and more casual. This past Saturday we finally made it back, but instead of going to the Boston location we went to the one in Foxborough (less traffic + free parking = how decisions are made in our house).

We weren’t able to make a reservation beforehand so we got to the restaurant a little before 5 o’clock to make sure we got a table. We were seated right away and started munching on the tasty breads and spreads.

Breads: focaccia, wheat, cranberry nut and scali.

photo 1 (48)The spreads: spicy butter, olives, and white bean hummus.photo 2 (45)Of course I had to try each of the different types of bread. They were all amazing but my favorite was the cranberry nut… I may have had 2 or 3 slices of that one. πŸ™‚

While we were going to town on the bread basket we started perusing the menu. The first thing that caught my eye was the Zucchini Arancini with Truffle Honey appetizer. In Italian Arancini literally means “little oranges” but what they really are is little balls of risotto that have been coated in breadcrumbs and fried! There was no way we were passing those up, and when our waitress delivered this little bowl of fresh out of the fryer arancini I think we both died a little! They were sooooo good!  photo 5 (24)Being the good wife I am I agreed to split it 2 for me, 3 for Henri and then proceeded to ask for half of his last one because I didn’t want to stop eating them. (Thanks for being a good sport baby!)

For our main courses, I ordered the special pasta which was homemade pasta with sauteed apples, butternut squash and Brussels Sprouts in a sage butter sauce. Oh. my. gosh!! Ah-mazing, this was all of my favorite flavors of fall all rolled up into one!photo 2 (46)Henri opted for the North Atlantic Cod which was served with Little Neck Clams, Chorizo, Baby Potatoes, Canellini Beans & Lobster Broth. That boy and his seafood – he can’t get enough!photo 3 (35)Our meals were sooooo good that when our waitress asked if we wanted dessert neither of us had any room, which is sad because at our rehearsal dinner we had this delicious banana chocolate chip bread pudding (and tasty tiramisu)!1044869_10200439353326494_1124036035_nOverall, it was an amazing meal. The food was all delicious and you can tell that everything is fresh and made from quality ingredients.

I hope that we make Date Night @ Davio’s a yearly thing from here on out! πŸ˜€

Have you ever heard of/tried arancini before?

Are you a seafood person or no? I like seafood but Henri LOVES it. I mainly stick to fish because shellfish is just slimy and gross to me, but he will literally eat anything!

What is the best thing you’ve eaten recently?
