Catching Up
Hi friends!
It’s been a crazy two weeks since the last time that I posted here. Since January I’ve been on a roll with blogging and then my work trip to San Francisco and a week straight of being sick threw me off my game. I’m 100% healthy now and soooooo thankful to be back to training – last week when it was taking what felt like forever to recover I was more and more angry every day that I couldn’t run like normal. I had to skip the 5K race that I was supposed to race on Saturday but I’m going to get a crack at it again this spring so I’m feeling better about that – at the time I didn’t think that I would get another chance to race a 5k this season.
Today I just wanted to catch you up on some fun/random things that have happened over the past 2 weeks – tomorrow I’ll be back with a running related post! ๐
1 – I raced another 10K in San Francisco and it went so-so, I ran 35:29. That’s my second fastest 10K ever but I was really hoping to run under 35 minutes.
2 – I had some abdominal pain/nausea during that 10K race – and that’s been happening in some of my races since October and it’s caused me to back off the pace when it happens. So last Monday I made an appointment to see my doctor and get some tests done. Luckily all my bloodwork came back normal so nothing crazy is going on but an ultrasound did show that the cyst on my left ovary (that they found in November when a cyst on my right ovary burst) is still there. It hasn’t grown and it’s relatively small so my doctor isn’t recommending to do anything about it. It is most likely this cyst that is causing my abdominal pain in races and it really seems like my only option is to deal with the pain – I’m going to try taking ibuprofen before my next race and see if that helps but for now it seems like I’m just going to have to manage it.
3 – Easter this year was such a blast! Liv practiced Easter egg hunting at daycare leading up to Easter so she knew EXACTLY what to do on Sunday morning. She had so much fun hunting for eggs that we re-hid the eggs a second time for her to find them all over again! After the egg hunt, brunch and church we spent the rest of the day with Henri’s family and just enjoyed a slow, restful day.
4 – Speaking of Easter – I stuck to really simple items for Liv’s Easter basket this year – mostly arts and crafty things/activities that we could DO together. These included bubbles (her favorite) and watercolor paint. We’ve been spending a lot of time this past week hanging out outside, either blowing bubbles or making a mess with her watercolors.
5 – Don’t hate me if you live in an area that is having perpetual winter right now but yesterday and today have been CRAZY hot here and I don’t like it one bit! I’m talking in the 90s! That’s just too hot too early in the year for me – although it was really nice to grill on Sunday night and I’m already dreaming about summer days at the beach. ๐
6 – 6 DAYS UNTIL BOSTON! I was talking to my boss about this this morning and he’s seriously considering cancelling practice on Monday so that we can watch the race instead… haha. Fingers crossed because I am so invested in the women’s race and can’t wait to see how it plays out on Patriot’s Day!
7 – I can’t believe that it’s been 4 years since I ran Boston! Even though it’s my worst marathon to date I still love that race so much and I really can’t wait to run it again someday!
Whelp – that’s all I’ve got for today! Hope you have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday! ๐
Are you going to be watching Boston on Monday? Who’s your bet for top American?
Anyone racing Boston?!? GOOD LUCK and drop your bib number below so that I can track you!
