A Fun Christmas Survey
Woah, how is it already Monday? Is it just me or do weekends at Christmas time fly by even faster than normal? Lucky for me Henri is off of work this week (for a few weeks actually!!!) so we still have some weekend vibes lingering around here. š
To kick off Christmas week I thought it would be fun to share my answers to a Christmas survey that I saw on Amanda’s blog last week.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE?
While Elf is up there The Santa Claus is far and away my favorite Christmas movie. Tim Allen is simply the best Santa Claus!
WHAT IS ON YOUR CHRISTMAS WISH LIST THIS YEAR?
I always have a really hard time coming up with a Christmas list but a few of the little things on my list are a new pair of sandals, a stove-top espresso pot and the illustrated Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone.
WHEN/HOW DID YOU LEARN THAT SANTA WASN’T REAL?
Honestly, I don’t have a vivid memory of when I learned this. I think that’s probably because I believed for an embarrassingly long time (I’m talking until 5th grade or so). I must have come to the realization on my own – nothing traumatic to share.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. This has been Henri’s favorite for a long time and the Christmas that we got engaged I called into the Christmas radio station to request it and they played my call on the radio! (<- just a little fun fact š )
WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
Even though it was a bit before Christmas the best gift I’ve ever received is my engagement ring/proposal from Henri. <3
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TREE ORNAMENT?
It used to be my “Baby’s 1st Christmas” ornament, but I think the top spot has been taken over by Lavinia’s 1st Christmas ornament.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CHRISTMAS?
Every Christmas is special for different reasons but I already know that this Christmas is going to be the most memorable ever since it’s Lavinia’s first Christmas. I am soooo excited to celebrate with her!
WHAT DOES YOUR CHRISTMAS DECOR LOOK LIKE?
We didn’t do too much other than our tree because the space in our apartment is pretty limited, but even that is enough to get me in the Christmas spirit every time I walk into the room.
WHO IS THE EASIEST PERSON TO BUY FOR?
Henri!!! His wish list is always a mile long so there is a lot to choose from š
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY SCENT?
The scent of a real Christmas tree – and any candle from Bath & Body Works.
WRAPPING PAPER OR GIFT BAGS?
Wrapping paper. It’s a point of pride in my family to expertly wrap presents… especially the funky shaped ones.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS BOOK?
It’s so hard to pick just one! I’d have to say all of Jan Brett’s wintery books… even though they aren’t all specifically Christmas I love the stories and the illustrations.
REAL OR ARTIFICIAL TREE?
I’m a sucker for real trees but this year we actually got an artificial tree. It was on super sale at Target and it seemed easier with a 4 month old around to not be vacuuming up pine needles all day every day. Hopefully next year we’ll be back to a real tree!
WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU’VE GIVEN?
Probably last Christmas when we “gave” our families the news that we were pregnant! That will be hard to beat in the years to come!
WHO IS THE HARDEST PERSON TO BUY FOR?
My dad… because he wants very little and there are only so many ties to can buy a person. This year when I asked him what was on his list he literally said “woolen socks”! ha!
POST A PICTURE OF AN OLD CHRISTMAS CARD.
WHEN DO YOU OPEN GIFTS?
We open gifts from extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc.) on Christmas Eve and presents from immediate family and Santa on Christmas morning.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STOCKING STUFFER?
CANDY!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MEAL?
I love Christmas breakfast! Growing up we had Monkey Bread and Egg Strata for Christmas breakfast and even though Henri and I mix it up a bit now we always make some sort of treats to enjoy on Christmas. I just love the laziness of the meal and really getting to enjoy breakfast and gift opening to start the day on Christmas.
DO YOU TRAVEL ON THE HOLIDAYS?
There were a lot of years that we were traveling on the holidays – it comes with the territory when your families live on total opposite sides of the country. But now we’re trying to minimize our holiday travel because of the hassle and cost. This year we are going to Boston to visit my family for New Years Eve and the week after which I am so so excited about! I haven’t been home since May and I can’t wait to introduce Lavinia to a lot of family and friends.
EGGNOG OR HOT CHOCOLATE?
Hot chocolate!
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THIS CHRISTMAS?
Christmas Eve service, family get together with everyone of Christmas Eve, and then a cozy, lazy Christmas day with just Henri’s immediate family.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITION?
Going to church on Christmas Eve! The services are always packed and have a joyful, celebratory feel to them. It’s also nice to start off the Christmas festivities by focusing on what the true meaning behind Christmas is.
Hop in on the fun and answer one (or more) of the questions yourself!
