A Day of Pregnant Eats
One thing that I love is seeing what other people eat in a day. It’s really of no consequence to me but I really do find it fascinating! Maybe it’s because I just love food in general so it’s fun to see/hear what other people are eating throughout the day. I also get asked pretty frequently what I eat in a day so I know that I’m not alone in this fascination!
I’ve shared previous Day of Eats which you can read here (from January of this year) and here (a day of pregnant eats from my first pregnancy). Looking back at the one from January it’s pretty funny to see how similar of a day yesterday and that day were in terms of my eats… I swear I don’y always have toast for breakfast and an apple and almonds for snack. haha
Today’s Day of Eats is from yesterday – a normal-ish workday until I left work and had to grab Liv from daycare and drive to my midwife appointment about 30 miles away from where we live. This caused us to get home later than usual and pushed our dinner time back 30 minutes from the norm BUT I am very proud of myself for not being tempted to picking up take-out on our way home.
A Day of Pregnant Eats
5:30am: Pre-Practice Breakfast – two slices of whole wheat toast with butter, one with cinnamon sugar and a cup of coffee with milk and collagen powder
Toast and coffee is one of my go-to’s before practice because it is quick, fast and easy to consume in the car while driving to work!
10:30am: Post-Run Snack – Chocolate Walnut Brownie Perfect Bar
I always make sure to eat something after my runs and Perfects Bars are one of my go-tos. The Chocolate Walnut Brownie is one of my faves – along with the Dark Chocolate Almond and Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter. The plus about the Chocolate Walnut Brownie is that it’s chocolatey BUT there are no chocolate chips which means less mess!
12pm: Lunch – Fajita Leftovers from dinner over the weekend (white rice, beans, corn, grilled chicken, peppers & onions + salsa)
One of the easiest things to have for lunch is leftovers! Over the weekend my mom and I made a huge batch of fajitas (chicken, onions and peppers) and I’ve been eating the leftovers nearly every day this week. YUM!
3pm: Car Snack – Granny Smith apple (that Lavinia ended up eating some of) and about 1/4 cup of almonds.
I always need a snack around this time and almonds and apples is one of my go-to’s because I’m usually busy, driving around after work, picking up Liv, running errands, etc. This pic was taken after my drive to daycare and these were the only almonds that were left from the drive from work, I promise you many more were actually consumed. š
6pm: Dinner Snack – flour tortilla
It took us a long time to get home from my midwife appointment so I was starving by the time we walked in the door. I was planning on making another piece of toast but all of our bread was gone so tortilla it was.
6:30pm: Dinner – Organic Butternut Squash Panzotti Pasta w. Brown Butter Sage Sauce + Parmesan Cheese and Sauteed Green Beans
I’ve been dreaming of this pasta ever since I bought it at Sprouts and after a week of camp and my parents being in town for a few days afterwards I finally got the chance to make it last night. It is sooo good and the butter and sage sauce complimented it nicely. Liv was not a fan and after spitting out one bite firmly told me “I no like it”. So instead she downed 2 tortillas and more green beans that even I ate!
8:30pm: “Dessert” – Cereal + Milk
One of my most insistent cravings this pregnancy has been milk so right as I was climbing in bed to do some reading I just HAD to grab a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats (with almonds!!) and milk. š
