A Busy Trip Home
Hello there! I had every intention of catching you up on my trip home yesterday but as soon as I landed I had to head to coach practice and then to class so needless to say, by the time I got home I was pretty pooped!
It was quite a busy weekend so this post got quite long… you may want a cup of coffee or a snack to get you through 😉
THURSDAY
After two rough flights home (hello random 2nd trimester morning sickness) my parents picked me up at the airport at 10:30am. We drove home and my mom and I headed out to have lunch with a family friend. She was very excited to talk about all things baby and it was fun to catch up. And my Turkey BLT Panini also hit the spot!
After lunch my mom, dad and I hopped in the car and drove to NYC. That night I had the cutest dinner dates ever!
Dad took us to one of his favorite Italian restaurants. I went for the carbonara which was really really good!
And of course we had to order the tiramisu for dessert!
After all the tasty food it was straight to bed for this tired lady.
FRIDAY
Friday morning we woke up bright and early to hit the gym. I ran 4 miles + 10 minutes of core while mom ran 3 miles and dad stuck to the weights.
For breakfast we hit up the hotel buffet. Oatmeal, some bacon ,and a croissant (plus a banana + a coffee cup of fruit to go snacks for later in the day).
Then it was off to Melissa’s track meet for the rest of the day!
It was fun to meet all her friends and cheer them on! That day Mel won her heat of the mile prelim and placed 3rd in the 3000m final – SPEED DEMON!
I’m so proud of her and it is really fun to see her out there healthy and racing well! The next day I missed her races but she finished 3rd in the mile final and her team placed 4th in the DMR!!
After the meet was done for the day my parents and I killed some time before Melissa had free time by checking out the Cookie Jar.
They had all sorts of cookies that it was nearly impossible to decide!
I ended up settling on the whoopie pie and lemon square with hot chocolate.
The rest of the night was spent hanging out with Melissa at her hotel room and then Mexican food for dinner back closer to our hotel, and crossword puzzle solving before bed.
SATURDAY
Saturday was so busy that I didn’t end up taking pictures. But the short version of the day is that my parents stayed in NYC for the second day of my sister’s meet so after a run/weights at the gym, I hopped on a train to Providence then took an Uber to David’s Bridal to do some bridesmaid dress shopping with my friend and the rest of her bridesmaids. We grabbed lunch at Panera after and then her cousin drove me back home where Kel and I made dinner and hung out until the rest of the fam came home!
SUNDAY
This was the most relaxing day of my trip. We had a slow start to the morning, dad made us pancakes for breakfast, we went to church and then took the dogs for a long walk!
Then my grandparents came over for an early lunch! It was so nice to catch up with them and just spend time together.
Grandpa loves Buddy and Buddy loves the attention grandpa give him. 🙂
Later that night Kel and I joined in on game night with my parents’ small group. Then it was off to bed before an early, early wake up call for my flight home on Monday!
And that’s a wrap!
How was your weekend?
