10 Most Viewed Posts From The Past Year
The other day I was poking around my blog analytics and decided to look into which posts have been the most popular in the past year (determined by pageviews). Some were obvious to me but there was at least one that I was shocked to see so popular 4 years after I wrote it. I thought it would be fun to share the 10 most viewed posts on The Foodie Runner from the past year. If you somehow missed these posts the first time around I hope that you check out one (or more) that interests you.

10 – Small Tweaks I’m Making This Season To Run PRs
I wrote this post in January of this year. In my previous training cycle in the fall I had made a lot of progress (I ran with a 3 minute half PR and a 22 minute marathon PR) so I felt like I was doing a lot of things right. But as someone that is always looking to improve I wrote out this list of tweaks I implemented in the spring to run some PRs. Everything in my spring season didn’t go as planned but I did manage to run a 48 second PR in the 10K and ran 3 seconds off of my 5K PR that was 7 years old!
9 – 2018 Family Goals: Check In #1
At the beginning of this year Henri and I chose a Word of the Year for our family and set some goals for the year. This post was an update on how we were doing on our goals 3 months into the year. I meant to do these updates every 3 months so we are now a month behind on check in #2 but that is going to be coming sometime next week!
8 – Surf City Half Marathon Race Recap
Race recaps are always popular – evidenced by the fact that 3 of the top 10 posts from the past year are race recaps. The Surf City Half was run on Super Bowl Sunday this year and it was a HOT one here in Southern California. I rode the struggle bus hard but came out with my second fastest half marathon ever, which after some reflection I was pretty happy with.
7 – Running FAQs Answered – 01
For this post I solicited questions on InstaStories and I answered 10 of them in this post. Topics range from strength training to running shoes to the benefits of collagen powder.
6 – Rock N Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon Race Recap
This is the half marathon where I ran my PR last fall, the recap includes all the details and feelings… from the elation of winning the race, to the embarrassment of puking everywhere during the home stretch.
5 – Things I Did Differently This Training Cycle To Run My 2:44 Marathon
In this post I detailed the 7 most important changes I feel I made during last fall’s marathon training cycle that contributed to my big PR at CIM.
4 – Mini Band Workout For Hip & Glute Strength
This is a great workout for all runners to incorporate into their weekly routine 2-3 times. As distance runners we tend to have weak hips and glutes and this workout will help you strengthen those areas, leading to improved form and running efficiency.
3 – Balancing Family Planning + Running as an Elite Female Runner
This post was one that was very important for me to write as I don’t think the topic is talked about enough. Female runners have to navigate their peak running years while also figuring out when and how to grow their family. Personally, I’ve spent a lot of the time the past three years thinking about how best to balance my goals for my running and my desire to have a family.
2 – Sausage, Broccoli & Cheddar Quiche
It SHOCKS me that this recipe is so popular! It is over 4 years old and if I do say so myself… my food photography skills flat out stunk! It is a tasty recipe though so if you’re a quiche fan like me make sure to check it out.
1 – CIM Race Recap
Unsurprisingly, the most popular blog post on The Foodie Runner this past year has been my race recap of the California International Marathon. I ran a 22 minute PR and qualified for the Olympic Trials, a goal I’ve had for a long time and one I didn’t think would take so long to achieve when I set it. I lot of years of hard work went into this one race.
