Lavinia Grace: 3 Month Update
This month was a big one for our little girl! It’s been crazy to watch how much she has changed in the past 30 days. I swear she’s getting bigger, stronger and smarter by the day!
STATS: There is no 3 month well visit appointment with the pediatrician so I don’t have any official weight/length stats this month. However, using the highly accurate “weigh yourself alone + weigh yourself holding the baby + subtract” method the other day she’s somewhere in the area of 11.5 lbs.
She’s almost exclusively in cloth diapers but in the occasional overnight disposable diaper she is now is a size 2. She’s still in 0-3 and 3 month clothes and will probably still fit in them for awhile now.
EATING: We are still breastfeeding most of the time and bottle feeding with pumped breastmilk when I’m at work/class. Liv continues to be great at transitioning between breast and bottle. I am so thankful for this especially when she picked up right where we left off with breastfeeding after my first work trip away for 36 hours!
From bottle feeding we know that she takes about 5 oz every 3ish hours for a total of 6 feeds a day. When she is going through a growth spurt it can be more often than that but that tends to be her average.
SLEEP: I find myself knocking on wood every time I talk about Lavinia’s sleeping habits. She still sleeps 7p-7a nearly every night with 1-2 feeding a night. The past week she has been going through a but of a growth spurt and has ready for bed closer to 6p, which I’m not complaining about since it gives me more time to get chores done before bed!
With a little bit of nap training I’ve gotten her naps to be much more consistent and she tend to go down for her 2 1.5 hour naps around 9:30-10a (morning nap) and 2-2:30p (afternoon nap).
The second half of this month we also transitioned her out of the swaddle since she was becoming an expert at breaking out of even the tightest, Velcro swaddle. Luckily it went smoothly and she is sleeping just fine sans swaddle.
LIKES:
- sitting up
- being in her Ergo or Moby wrap
- “standing” up
- bath time
- sleeping –> this girl is crazy good at sleeping/napping and gets really mad if you interupt her sleep
- first night away from mom –> for my two work trips to Sacramento and Hawaii
- looking at herself in the mirror
- looking at her puppy
- chewing on EVERYTHING
- walks/runs in the stroller
DISLIKES:
- being tired/hungry/dirty/etc.
- when tummy time lasts too long
- being in the car if we aren’t moving
FIRSTS:
- plane ride (to Denver to visit my sister and niece)
- sleeping without a swaddle
- supporting her weight on her legs (while being supported)
- started rolling over from tummy to back
- pumpkin patch visit
- meeting her cousin
- sucking on her fingers
- story time at the library
THINGS I WANT TO REMEMBER:
- the way she feels when she falls asleep in my arms and we stay that way for hours snuggling
- her cute little, flirty smile that melts my heart every time
- her determination – she
- how she is always looking around her and taking things in, she is so curious!
- the quiet moments when Henri, Lavinia and I are all relaxing together
We are so smitten with our little girl and are loving our adventure with her!
